Admission to the School

All Stockport LEA Schools have their own priority area. All children living in this area are entitled to a place at the school if they have registered by April 1st for a September start. Children from outside the priority are area only be admitted if there are places available after all the priority children have been accepted.

Decisions will be based on siblings already in school and distance from home. In the case of a refusal then parents have a right to appeal to the Town Hall. Parents are welcome to visit the school prior to admission by appointment with the headteacher

Starting School

Children start school in September of the school year in which they are five. We make every effort to make sure they have a smooth and happy start to school life

Once your child has been admitted in the Summer Term he/she starts school, you will be invited to come to meet the Headteacher, Class Teacher and Classroom Assistant. There will be an opportunity to see the classroom, to receive additional information and to ask any questions you may have

So that we get to know you child as well as possible we visit as many children as we can in their playgroup or nursery. Soon after you child has started school you will be given the opportunity to discuss their individual needs or share any relevant information with the teacher. This will be treated in a confidential manner.

To help us to ease children into their new classes Reception Children come to school for half days only for the first 2 weeks. This enables us to keep the groups small and to have more time to assess individual children or their needs
